The yearslong competition in the famed Langsam-Feldman comedy skit who could up the other in a prank reached new levels on Sunday, when one of them arranged a fake sheva brachos, complete with a shtreimel-bedecked chasan and dozens of guests, for the other to “badchen” at.
*Yakov Yosef Langsam* pranked fellow comedian *Velvi Feldman*, who works as a badchan. He ordered a fake sheva brachos, setting up the men’s side for a lavish meal and, unbeknownst to Feldman, leaving the other side of the mechitza empty.
*Behind the mechitza, Langsam stood* with about 20 others, dressed in colorful birthday hats. As soon as Feldman completed his piece, the mechitza was torn down, revealing the ensemble with a huge birthday sign for Feldman and breaking out in grammen. “There’s no chasan, there’s no mechutan,” trilled Langsam, to laughter and applause from the crowd.
*The act was done along with the staff* of their recent Chol Hamoed show, “Dramedy.” It is another in a longstanding contest for each to prank the other. Feldman now has a tall order to beat.
