What is the goal of the Passover 5782/2022 Charoset Drive?
During the Passover season, Masbia will provide an estimated $2,232,000 worth of food to those in need. It has been two years since the Covid-19 pandemic began. Since March 2020, with your help, we mobilized and responded to a 500% increase in demand. But even before the pandemic, the demand during the Passover season was 25% of what we would normally do in an entire year. Therefore, we are bracing for a unprecedented demand above the 500% increase we’ve seen throughout the past two years. We are estimating that we will be helping about 20,000 families this Passover season.
Masbia helps provide food in two basic ways, please help us provide the following:
Passover Grocery Packages:
These packages help the working-poor, single-parent households, as well as breadwinners who have lost their jobs, to provide for their families with dignity.
The logistics behind this operation are staggering and begins months before the holiday when we begin canvassing major kosher food manufacturers and distributors for donations. Essential food supplies that we can’t get donated, we then purchase in bulk at the lowest possible cost.
A package for a family of 4 costs approximately $108.
TOTAL FOOD COST for PACKAGES is $2,160,000 for the 20,000 families. This is the bare minimum needed. The more we raise, the more we can distribute to those struggling.

Passover Ready-to-Eat Meals
Throughout the days of the holiday, those who come for ready-to-eat food will receive special kosher-for-Passover holiday meals. These meals feed the elderly, disabled, and unfortunate. I estimate that about 4,000 such meals will be served. Masbia of Boro Park will actually be open for the Seder itself.
A Passover-style meal for 1 person costs approximately $18.
TOTAL READY-TO-EAT FOOD COST is $72,000 for the 4,000 individuals expected.
As you can see, the demand for raw ingredients dwarfs the demand for ready-to-eat food, but it’s still quite a large amount. All this does not include any other cost.
