Hundreds of Jewish worshippers circled Temple Mount in Jerusalem on Wednesday, amid recent tensions with the State of Palestine.

The event takes place every Rosh Chodesh, the name for the first day of every month in the Hebrew calendar, marking a new lunar cycle. During the ceremony worshippers surround the Temple Mount, singing and dancing as they pass each of its gates.

Footage filmed on Wednesday evening shows hundreds of worshippers continuously circling Temple Mount while playing music and waving Israeli flags.

For the first time since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the number of attendees has not been restricted.

The event is taking place as tensions between Israelis and Palestinians remains high, following the recent outbreak of violence that lead to the death of 13 Israelis and 248 Palestinians after 11 days of hostilities.
