Ultra-Orthodox Jewish protesters and the police clashed in Ashdod on Sunday, as police attempted to close a Jewish educational institution (yeshiva) that had opened in violation of lockdown orders.

According to the police, 13 police officers were injured during the clashes, and 15 rioters were detained for questioning.

Similar clashes took place in Jerusalem, as authorities were enforcing COVID-19 measures among religious communities.
