Hundreds of Orthodox Jews marched against coronavirus restrictions in New York City on Wednesday night.

The new wave of restrictions on religious services was ordered by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo as the positivity rate of COVID has been increasing in the city in recent weeks.

The protesters chased several journalists away during the march, some of whom had to be escorted by police.

On Tuesday, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo imposed tight restrictions on parts of New York City, including Williamsburg and Brooklyn, the areas with large populations of Orthodox Jews, where the number of new coronavirus cases has risen in recent weeks.

New York was one of the first states to be hit by the coronavirus pandemic, prompting a several months lockdown. Though cases dropped sharply in May, they have started to rise again in late September.
