ORBNAGE COUNTY – A devastating multi-vehicle crash on Route 17 in Chester, New York, early Wednesday morning left one person dead and several others injured, including one in critical condition. The accident occurred just before 2 a.m. near Exit 126 for Routes 17M and 94, with emergency responders describing a chaotic scene involving an overturned car on the shoulder and a severely damaged Nissan Altima in the center of the westbound lanes. At least one of the vehicles caught fire due to the impact.
The victim has been identified as R’ Mordche Zafir U”h, 55, of Kiamesha Lake, New York, a member of the Vizhnitz community. His 17 year old son remains in critical condition. The tzibur is urged to daven for his refuah sheleimah—his name for Tehillim is Kalman Yehoshua Ben Esther Malka Bracha.
