Tens of thousands participated in a gathering of prayer and unity at the Western Wall, the largest since the outbreak of the war. Families of the captives joined in prayer for their swift return and for the well-being of IDF soldiers and security forces, as well as the recovery of the wounded.
In response to the call of leading rabbis, a prayer assembly was held today, Wednesday, on the eve of the month of Shevat, addressing the challenging situation facing the Jewish people. The prayer were for the well-being of IDF soldiers and security forces, healing of the wounded, and the return of the captives.
The assembly took place in the presence of chief rabbis of Israel – Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef and Rabbi David Lau, the rabbi of the Old City of Jerusalem, Rabbi Avigdor Nebenzahl, the rabbi of the Western Wall and holy sites, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, as well as numerous rabbis, judges, public figures, and the participation of dozens of captives’ families and tens of thousands from across the country.
During the prayer, shofars and trumpets were sounded, chapters of Selichot, Psalms, the acceptance of the yoke of heavenly kingship, and special prayers for the well-being of IDF soldiers, the recovery of the wounded, and the return of the captives were recited. Representatives of the captives’ families took part in the recitation of Psalms.
Rabbi of the Western Wall and Holy Sites, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz: “We stand here on the eve of the month of Shevat to cry out the pain, the anguish, and the hope. Save Your people and bless Your inheritance. We stand here united. There are no tribes here. There are no camps. We have learned our lesson. We stand in prayer before You as one person. May it be Your will to renew this month for us for good and for blessing, a month of redemption for the captives, a month of victory over the cruel enemy, a month of good news, salvation, and comfort.”

בהשתתפות משפחות החטופים בתפילה להשבתם במהרה ובתפילה לשלום חיילי צה”ל וכוחות הביטחון ולהחלמת הפצועים
לאור קריאת רבנים וגדולי תורה התקיימה היום, יום ד’ ערב ראש חודש שבט, עצרת תפילה אודות המצב הקשה בו שרוי עם ישראל, תפילה לשלום חיילי צה”ל וכוחות הביטחון, תפילה להחלמת הפצועים ותפילה להשבת החטופים.
העצרת התקיימה במעמד הרבנים הראשיים לישרא ל- הראשון לציון הגאון הרב יצחק יוסף, הגאון הרב דוד לאו, רב העיר העתיקה זקן הרבנים הגאון הרב אביגדור נבנצל, רב הכותל המערבי והמקומות הקדושים הגאון הרב שמואל רבינוביץ, רבנים, דיינים ואישי ציבור, ובהשתתפות עשרות בני משפחות החטופים ורבבות שהגיעו מרחבי הארץ.
במהלך התפילה תקעו בשופרות ובחצוצרות, נאמרו פרקים מתוך הסליחות, פרקי תהילים, קבלת עול מלכות שמים וכן תפילות מיוחדות לשלום חיילי צה”ל, לרפואת הפצועים ולהשבת החטופים. נציגי משפחות החטופים השתתפו באמירת פריק התהילים.
רב הכותל המערבי והמקומות הקדושים הרה”ג שמואל רבינוביץ שליט”א:
“אנחנו עומדים כאן, ערב ראש חודש שבט, כדי לזעוק את הצער, את הכאב ואת התקווה. הושיעה את עמך וברך את נחלתך. אנחנו עומדים כאן באחדות. אין פה שבטים. אין פה מחנות. למדנו את השיעור שלנו. אנחנו עומדים בתפילה לפניך כאיש אחד. יְהִי רָצון מִלְּפָנֶיךָ, שֶׁתְּחַדֵּשׁ עָלֵינוּ אֶת הַחֹדֶשׁ הַזֶּה לְטוֹבָה וְלִבְרָכָה, שיהיה חודש של גאולת השבויים. חודש של ניצחון על האויב האכזר. חודש של בשורות טובות, ישועות ונחמות.”
