הוא מוכר ככתב ועיתונאי, אך כעת הוא מתגלה גם כמלחין וזמר. שלום פרוינד בסינגל בכורה, חדשני ומרענן – “דרכה של תורה”, בהפקה מוסיקלית מושלמת וייחודית של הזמר הנודע יהודה דים.
שום דבר לא את הכין את הכתב המוכשר שלום פרוינד לבאות ולטלטלות שעובר העיתון המכובד שבו הוא מועסק מזה כמה שנים – “יום ליום”. אולם גם כעת, למרות השינויים הטכניים, שלום ממשיך בעבודתו כרגיל וביתר שאת.
בימים טרופים אלה גמלה בליבו ההחלטה לתת ביטוי לעוד כישרון חבוי אצלו – כשרון ההלחנה והשירה. מבחינתו של פרוינד, תחום המוזיקה אינו חדש לו, מסתבר שהוא כבר החל לשיר ולהלחין מגיל צעיר מאוד, ואם תשאלו בחצר החסידות מכנובקא-בעלזא אליה הוא משתייך, תגלו, כי עד לא מזמן הוא נחשב למלחין החצר, גם אם לא באופן רשמי.
בירור קצר העלה, כי אכן היה שר שירים חדשים שאותם הלחין לכבוד אירועי השמחה בחסידות מכנובקא-בעלזא, ואלפי החסידים היו מפזזים ורוקדים לצלילי שיריו של פרוינד בשמחות ואירועים שונים בבית האדמו”ר, שהיה משתעשע בהם באופן אישי – אלא שהפעם יוצא שלום פרוינד לדרך חדשה משלו, בה הוא מגיש את פרי ביכוריו מתוך רשימה מכובדת של לחנים מהסגנון החסידי העדכני שבאמתחתו.
“מדובר באחד השירים הראשונים שהלחנתי, עוד כשהייתי בחור ישיבה צעיר בגיל 16” – מספר פרוינד על הדרך שהובילה אותו אל השיר “דרכה של תורה”. הוא מוסיף ומנמק: “לא חשבתי שדווקא השיר הספציפי הזה יהפוך לסינגל בכורה שלי, הלחן הזה היה טמון אצלי אי שם בזיכרון מה שנקרא ב’בוידעם’, אבל בשבועות האחרונים לאחר שגמלה בליבי ההחלטה לצאת עם הסינגל הראשון שלי, ישבתי עם ידידי האמן והיוצר יהודה דים שהפיק עבורי את השיר, ועברנו יחד על מקבץ של לחנים שלי, ומתוך רשימה ארוכה של לחנים, יהודה נדלק במיוחד על המילים והלחן של “דרכה של תורה”, מכיוון שמצא בו משהו ייחודי או איך שהוא אוהב לקרוא לזה – ‘משהו שמבטא יציאה מהקופסה'”. “למפרע”, מסכם פרוינד, “מתברר, שיהודה דים נגע במיתר הנכון, ו”דרכה של תורה” יוצא לדרך המלך”.
על העיבוד המוצלח שבו משולב ניחוח חסידי לצד צלילים מעולם המוסיקה הבינלאומית, מנצח המעבד ג’ף הורביץ, ועל ביצועו של השיר מככבים טובי הנגנים, אבי סינגולדה על הגיטרות ואבי אבידני על התופים. על המקהלות נמנים: יהודה דים, אבי אינברג, אבי ז’אנו וסיני מעודה. קלידים, סינטי, מיקס ומאסטרינג: ג’ף הורביץ.
הסינגל מושק עם קליפ מילים בצילום ועריכה מיוחדת של שירלי ון-דן ברג, ובימים אלו הוא מחולק לעיתונאים ושדרנים בצירוף מארז של ארוחה קטנה אישית וייחודית, שמנסה לפרש את מילות המשנה לא רק באמירה אלא גם בטעם.

He is known as a reporter and journalist (in Israel), but now he is also a composer and singer. Shalom Freund in a premiere, innovative and refreshing single – “Darka Shel Torah”, in a complete and unique musical production by renowned Israeli singer Yehuda Dim.
As far as Shalom Freund is concerned, the music field is not new to him. Apparently, he has already begun to sing and compose from a very young age, and if you ask in the Hasidic court of Machnovke-Belz, to which he belongs, you will find that until recently he was considered the composer of the Chassidus, even if not formally.
A short clarification revealed, that Freund was singing new songs he had composed for the Chassidus of Machnovke-Belz, and that thousands of Chassidim have already danced to Freund’s songs at the Rebbe’s Simcho’s. But now Freund has gone for a new way on his own, in which he presents his first fruit from a respectable list of his most up-to-date Chassidic melodies.
This is a new and interesting melody on the Mishnaic words in Avot (4: 4): “Kach Hi Darka Shel Torah”… and considering the holy words that accompany man in the path of Torah, it is certainly possible that this song may be the crowning glory of yeshiva students.
Shalom Freund unveils the path that led him to the song “Darka Shel Torah”, and says that “This is one of the first songs I composed, when I was a young yeshiva student at the age of 16. I did not think that this particular song would become my first single, but when I decided to release my first single, I then sat down with my dear friend Yehuda Dim, who produced the song for me, and when we went through a collection of melodies from a long list which I have composed, Yehuda was especially inspired by the lyrics and the melody of Darka Shel Torah”.
Freund continues to explains: “Well, Yehuda embraced this melody since he found it to be something unique and extraordinary”.
“Retroactively”, Freund concludes: “It turns out that Yehuda Dim touched the proper string, and this when ‘Darka Shel Torah’ went out on the royal journey”.
The successful adaptation of a Hassidic fragrance alongside sounds from the world of international music is performed by the processor Jeff Horvitch, and performed by world renowned musicians Avi Singolda on the guitars and Avi Avidani on the drums.
