We were 4 guys, average hikers, that planned to hike down the South Kaibab trail all the way to the Colorado River and back up in the same day.
We hoped to start early on the morning of March 8th, 2021 but things didn’t go as planned and it took us much longer than anticipated to get to the Phantom Ranch at the bottom.
On the way up we took the Bright Angel trail but we didn’t make it all the way up before it got dark. Additionally, I got sick and we needed to find shelter overnight.
