Ateres Shlomo Yeshiva in Israel has unveiled the world’s largest Aron Kodesh, a monumental project crafted over three and a half years by 350 artisans from 12 countries. Spanning 120 square meters and standing 6.5 meters tall, the Aron Kodesh is made from over two tons of pure silver and adorned with 24-karat gold.
At its center lies a meticulously constructed chamber for storing Torah scrolls, created by leading artisans from Udaipur, India. The entrance features a purple parochet woven with gold threads and embedded with precious stones, crafted over several months by top artists from Kashmir, India. A unique mezuzah, measuring just 2.7 by 2.7 centimeters, is affixed to the Aron Kodesh. Surrounding the structure is a cast copper fence weighing four tons, produced in a specialized foundry in Stuttgart, Germany.
Key Features of the Ark:
Dimensions: The ark spans an area of 120 square meters, measuring 20 meters in length and 6.5 meters in height.
Materials: Crafted from over two tons of pure silver, with gold-plated sections adorned in 24-karat gold.
Inner Sanctuary: At its center lies a meticulously constructed chamber for storing Torah scrolls, created by leading artisans from Udaipur, India.
Parochet (Curtain): The entrance to the inner sanctuary is embellished with a purple curtain woven with gold threads and embedded with precious stones, crafted over several months by top artists from Kashmir, India.
Mezuzah: The ark features the world’s smallest mezuzah, measuring 2.7 by 2.7 centimeters, a finely crafted piece of art.
Copper Fence: Surrounding the ark is a cast copper fence weighing four tons, produced in a specialized foundry in Stuttgart, Germany.
The construction spanned three and a half years, involving 350 artists from 12 countries across three continents. The components were transported via complex sea and air routes, overcoming logistical challenges, including threats from the Houthis and wartime conditions, to reach the yeshiva campus.
The project was fully funded by a Jewish-American philanthropist, a follower of the Bobov Hasidic dynasty, dedicated in memory of his revered teacher, Rabbi Shlomo Halberstam of Bobov, of blessed memory.

מאפייני הארון:
• מידות: שטח של 120 מטר מרובע, אורך 20 מטר, גובה 6.5 מטר.
• חומרים: מעל 2 טון כסף טהור. חלקי הכסף המוזהבים חופו בכמות עצומה של זהב טהור 24 קארט.
• חדר הקודש: במרכז הארון חדר המיועד לאחסון ספרי התורה, שנבנה בעבודה קפדנית על ידי האמנים המובילים מהעיר אודייפור שבהודו.
• פרוכת: פתח חדר הקודש מעוטר בפרוכת ארגמן ארוגה בחוטי זהב ומשובצת באבני חן יקרות שעמלו חודשים רבים על יצירתה טובי האמנים בחבל קשמיר, הודו.
• מזוזה: בפתח חדר הקודש – המזוזה הקטנה בעולם, במידות 2.7 על 2.7 ס”מ, מעשה אמן מהודר.
• גדר נחושת: הארון מוקף בגדר נחושת יצוקה במשקל 4 טון, שנוצקה במפעל ייעודי בשטוטגרט, גרמניה.
הבנייה, נמשכה שלוש וחצי שנים, וכללה מעורבות של 350 אמנים מ-12 מדינות בשלוש יבשות. חלקי הארון הובלו בנתיבים מורכבים בים ובאוויר, תוך התמודדות עם אתגרים לוגיסטיים, כולל איומי החות’ים ומצב המלחמה, עד להגעתם לקרית הישיבה.
הארון מומן במלואו על ידי נגיד יהודי-אמריקאי, חסיד באבוב, שהקדיש את השנים האחרונות לפרויקט מונומנטלי זה לעילוי נשמתו הטהורה של רבו, האדמו”ר בעל ה’דברי שלמה’ מבאבוב זצ”ל.
