Beitar Illit
We are a calm and peaceful city not far from Yerushalayim, with about 70,000 frum residents, about 60% of whom are woman and children. We are surrounded by approximately 100,000 Arab residents of surrounding villages.
Even before the barbaric attacks of October 7, these neighboring Arabs had been caught numerous times engaging in general acts of sabotage, as well as laying explosives, throwing Molotov cocktails on the roads leading to the city, carrying out stabbing attacks, and otherwise supporting Hamas terror activities.
The October 7 attacks have awakened us to the real danger in our backyard and has left many in the community extremely anxious and afraid. We have been forced to reexamine the security situation on the ground in our community and, after consultation with the various members and groups in our community, have determined that the existing measures are insufficient and that more must be done to ensure the safety of our community. With that, Shomrim was born.
Made up of volunteers from within the Heimish/frum community, our members conduct additional patrols in the streets and at the fences, while also providing additional security at our Shuls, Shteiblach, and Batei Medrashim. They will also increase inspections of buses entering the city, along with a host of other measures designed to increase our city’s security. With Hashem’s help, we trust that these measures will keep us safe from the surrounding threat, and restore calm and a sense of safety to our residents.
While Shomrim has numerous volunteers ready to join, these volunteers lack the necessary tactical and professional training, as well as the proper equipment to properly carry out their tasks. We urgently need funding for training, patrol vehicles, weapons, clothing and radios, as well as along with for a command-and-control center to ensure our members’ coordination.

קרוב מאוד לירושלים עיר הקודש.
עיר בת 70 אלף תושבים מהציבור החרדי, מתוכה כ60% ילדים ונערים.
עיר רגועה ושלווה אך מוקפת בכפרים ערביים עם כ- 100 אלף תושבים פלסטינים אשר תושביה נתפסו פעם אחר פעם בפעולות חבלה, הנחת מטענים, זריקת בקבוקי תבערה על הדרכים המובילות לעיר, פיגועי דקירה ותמיכה בפעולות חמאס.
החל מהשבעה באוקטובר, תושבי ביתר עילית נמצאים בחרדה קיומית.
האם תרחיש הטבח הנורא בעוטף עזה יחזור על עצמו? האם אנחנו התושבים מספיק מוגנים או שמא עלינו לדאוג לכך בעצמנו?
מתוך השאלות והחרדות הגענו לתשובה אחת. שלא יחזור שוב!
יחד עם הביטחון בהקב״ה נעשה את חובת ההשתדלות במקסימום ונגן על עצמנו ככל האפשר.
אנו תושבי העיר מכל החוגים והמגזרים, הקמנו יחד את ארגון ׳השומרים׳. הארגון שיספק כוח עזר בטחוני משמעותי לשמירה על עירנו.
אנו מונים כרגע מאות מתנדבים יראי שמיים, שעומדים הכן לכל משימה. אם זה הגברת סיורים ברחובות, תוספת סיורים בגדרות, שמירה על בתי הכנסת והשטיבלאך, סיורים באוטובוסים הנכנסים לעיר, ועוד שלל משימות שיגבירו את הביטחון בעיר ויחזירו את הרוגע ואת תחושת הביטחון לתושבים.
רוח ההתנדבות קיימת במלוא הכוח והעוצמה.
אנו זקוקים בדחיפות לציוד שיסייע לנו תושבי העיר המתנדבים, לבצע את המשימות.
אימונים טקטיים והכשרה מקצועית למתנדבים, ביגוד, מכשירי קשר, ציוד השלמה לכלי הנשק, מימון רכבי הסיור, אבזור לרכבי הסיור, גיבוש המתנדבים ועוד שלל דברים שיעזרו לנו להפוך את הארגון לחלק בלתי נפרד משמירה על ביטחון עירנו ביתר עילית.
