On August 6th, Boro Park Shomrim received a call from a woman who was scammed out of $30,000 by someone posing as a Social Security officer.

Shomrim immediately launched an investigation, gathering surveillance footage and arranging a second meeting with the scammer.

With ground units, drones, and full coordination with the NYPD’s 66th Precinct, Shomrim followed the victim from the bank to the drop-off point.

As soon as the perpetrator completed the transaction, the NYPD moved in and made the arrest.

Never give out personal information over the phone.
