דבקה נפשי אחריך בי תמכה ימינך
כן בקודש חזיתיך לראות עוזך וכבודך
צמאה לך נפשי כמה לך בשרי

Translation:
I cling to you; your right hand upholds me.
I have seen you in the sanctuary
and beheld your power and your glory.
I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you

I call this song, “The Dveykus song,” as it is as beautiful as it is spiritual in our desire to connect to our Creator .

I used to ask my children the following question. What is more satisfying, food when you are hungry or drink when you are thirsty? The answer is always the same. Thirst quenching water when the throat is parched and the body feels dehydrated, has the effect of reaching every centimeter of a person’s being. The sensation of thirst being quenched feels like receiving a new lease on life. From a flower that is shriveling and dying to instant bloom, color, and vitality. This was my intention when composing this song. It is not simply that we want a connection to Hashem. It is that when we are disconnected, our very soul feels as if it is dying. A beautiful word of torah, davening a thoughtful Sh’mona Esrei, engaging in a Mitzva, doesn’t merely feel good and satisfying. Rather, it feels like life itself is coursing through our temporary existence, and powering it forward to live with eternal meaning and purpose.

אני קורא לשיר הזה “שיר הדביקות,” מכיוון שהוא יפה ורוחני כשאנחנו מתאוה להתחבר לבורא שלנו.

שאלתי את ילדיי בעבר השאלה הבאה: מה מרגיע יותר, אוכל כשאתה רעב או שתייה כשאתהצמא? התשובה תמיד זהה. מים שמשביעים צמא כשהגרון יבש והגוף מרגיש יבש, משפיעים עלכל סנטימטר בגוף של אדם. התחושה של שתיית מים פוגעת כמו שיהוי חדש בחיים. מפרחשמתייבש ומת, לפריחה מיידית, צבע ורענון. זו הייתה כוונתי בעת כתיבת השיר הזה. זה לא רקשאנחנו רוצים חיבור לה’ . הוא שכאשר אנחנו מנותקים, הנשמה שלנו נראית כאילו היא מתמות. מילה יפה של תורה, התפלה בכוונה, השתתפות במצווה, אינם רק מרגישים טוב ומספקים. כלהקיום הזמני שלנו מרגיש כאילו החיים עצמם זורים דרך המידע הזמני שלנו ומפעילים אותוקדימה כדי לחיות עם משמעות ומטרה
