Tel Aviv residents and people throughout Israel came to a standstill, as air raid sirens sounded to mark the Holocaust Remembrance Day, on Thursday.
Sirens blared throughout the country at 10:00 local time (07:00 GMT) to mark the Remembrance Day. People stood in silence for two minutes in memory of six million Jews killed in the Holocaust.
Commemorative events will be held throughout the day, having been held largely online last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
#Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Remembrance Day – #YomHaShoah in Hebrew – is a national day of commemoration in Israel dedicated to the memory of the Jews who perished in the Holocaust as a result of the actions carried out by #Nazi Germany and its collaborators.
