Israeli air strikes left numerous buildings damaged and destroyed in a residential area of Beit Hanoun in the northern part of the Gaza Strip on Thursday.
Locals were seen gathering around scattered debris and rubble on the ground, assessing the damage done to their area overnight.
“From horror, we did not sleep, our children in hospitals, among them were injured and martyrs and we are now displaced and homeless,” explained Saeed Muhammad Naseer, a local resident.
The attack on the area was reportedly a part of the Israeli military’s efforts to destroy the undergound tunnel network used by Hamas in region.
Following the air strikes, Gaza’s Ministry of Health announced early Friday that the death toll has risen to 116, including 31 children, and 830 injured, amid massive damage to buildings and infrastructure, while seven Israelis have died.
