One Palestinian protester was killed and dozens injured after Israeli forces clashed with Palestinian protesters marching towards the Beit El settlement in the West Bank, on Tuesday.

A bloodied protester can be seen being carried away for further medical assistance. Israeli forces used tear gas to disperse the protesters. Ambulances were also on hand to provide medical assistance.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said 46 Palestinians were injured, including 16 with bullet wounds, four of them are in a serious condition.

These reports were also confirmed by the Palestinian Red Crescent, who stated 26 Palestinians were shot by live ammunition.

IDF also released a statement saying, “During a violent disturbance in the Judea and Samaria, extensive fire was fired at an IDF force stationed near the point, as well as at the headquarters of the Judea and Samaria Division. The force and other IDF fighters responded with live ammunition at the source of the shooting.”

Ruptly’s producer on the ground confirmed he heard gunshots from both sides.

The confrontation, which began with protests against evictions in East Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood, escalated into an exchange of rockets and airstrikes killing 9 civilians and one soldier in Israel. In Gaza, the death toll has increased to over 200, including more than 60 children, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
