Israeli police violently arrested Al Jazeera journalist Givara Budeiri who was covering a protest in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of the occupied East Jerusalem on Saturday.
Footage shows officers detaining the reporter as well as pushing cameraman Nabil Mazzawi whose equipment was apparently destroyed in the incident.
The police said they arrested two suspects ‘for assaulting officers after they refused to identify themselves.’
Budeiri who was wearing a flak jacket marked “Press” was covering a protest marking the anniversary of the Naksa Day. Her arrest was condemned by the Qatar-based network and international media watchdogs.
