Hundreds of Jewish community members gathered to celebrate Hanukkah in Munich on Tuesday.

Footage features Hanukka’s menora lighting ceremony as well as people celebrating after it was finished. “Tonight, is the third night and we light three candles, but we know that tomorrow night will not be enough because another day has come. So we have to add to what was yesterday and light four candles and the next day we will add another one,” Israel Diskin, rabbi, said at the ceremony.

The eight-day Jewish festival of lights, Hanukkah, lasts until December 26 this year. Each day, as darkness falls, a new light is lit. With the Festival of Lights, Jews celebrate the victory of the Maccabees over Greek-Syrian foreign rule in 164 BC and the re-dedication of the Jerusalem Temple.
