The Levaya of the Shliach Rabbi Eli Schlanger HYD, who was murdered in a terror attack in Sydney on the first night of Chanukah, will take place at 7:00 PM ET on Tuesday.
The funeral will take place at Chabad of Bondi, 105 Wellington Street in Bondi.
Following the service, there will be a procession to the cemetery for the burial.
Rabbi Schlanger was a beloved and energetic Shliach who took pride in his work with the 5,000-member-strong Russian-speaking Jewish community in the Sydney area, who fled from the former Soviet Union.
On Sunday, Rabbi Schlanger was part of the organizing team of annual Chanukah by the Sea in the Bondi Beach Park. The event features a lighting ceremony of a large Menorah followed by a celebration for the community. He was one of the 15 victims killed in the terror attack when two gunman opened fire on the event.
He is survived by his wife Chayale (nee Ulman) and children, including a 2 month old baby.
He is also survived by his parents, Rabbi Binyomin and Dobra Schlanger – Israel, and siblings Baruch Schlanger – Toronto, Chanie Drizin – Crown Heights, Dena Gansburg – London, England, Tzippy Kastel – Sydney, Australia, Shmuli Schlanger – Bakersfield, CA, Perela Goldhirsch – Melbourne, Australia, Sorala Hayes – Miami, FL and Shaina Joseph – Sydney, Australia.
A fund has been set up in support of his family.
