Miriam Mintz taught in our community for over a decade, touching the lives of countless students and families. She believed that special education was the key to breaking barriers and building bridges between the children who needed more than a traditional classroom.

When Miriam passed in 2024, her family and the community she served felt called to honor her memory in a meaningful way. Rather than a simple memorial, we envisioned a living tribute where her passion for education and development in the Jewish community could continue to thrive.

The tragic loss of Miriam Mintz (nรฉe Fink) left a gaping void in the lives of so many. Miriam was a master special educator who devoted her professional life to helping children who needed more than a traditional classroom could offer. As a trusted anchor in the Lamdeinu learning center of Baltimore for a decade, she taught and supported hundreds of children, from first through fifth grade. She guided each student with patience and precision, never rushing the process, always holding the highest expectations. Teachers turned to her for insight. Parents relied on her judgment. Her presence made a difference. Thatโ€™s why Miriamโ€™s husband, Mendel Mintz, set out to Build Miriamโ€™s Legacy, to create something that would make an impact and a difference for Baltimore Jewry.

Baltimore is home to one of the largest Jewish communities in North Americaโ€”nearly 100,000 Jewish residents, dozens of Jewish schools, over 60 shuls, and thousands of children enrolled in Jewish education. But despite strong institutional infrastructure, the city lacks one essential resource: a full-time Jewish childrenโ€™s library and learning center.

Enter Miriamโ€™s Libraryโ€”a childrenโ€™s library and learning center that will serve as a central space for growth, reading, tutoring, and development in the Jewish community here in Baltimore. A fitting legacy that both honors Miriamโ€™s life and continues the path she forged.

Miriamโ€™s Library is designed to be more than a library. Itโ€™s a vibrant, multi-purpose center built to meet the real, everyday needs of children and families in the Baltimore Jewish community.

This campaign is raising $2.3 million, with every dollar you donate QUADRUPLED – your generosity goes 4 times as far! Every donation counts, every dollar makes a difference – please give, and please spread the word.

Miriam never had children of her own. But her life revolved around them. And this library

ensures that what she gave so manyโ€”structure, confidence, love of learningโ€”will continue for generations to come.
