A mass prayer was held by the #WesternWall in East #Jerusalem to call for an end to the #coronavirus epidemic, on Sunday.

Footage shows Jews rocking back and forth as they were reciting prayers by the Wall. “We say to the Chinese people we are praying for you. We are asking for a blessing that you will also be happy, healthy that there is a cure for the illness, that your doctors will find a way to cure your disease,” said Amichai Eliyahu, the chairman of the Community Rabbinical Association.

Jon Zon, a Chinese student residing in Israel, joined in on the public prayer and said “I feel sad about the situation in China, but I think Chinese people will conquer this difficulty and everything will be fine. I hope more Chinese people can come here as usual.” “Just like the Chinese stood for the Jewish people right after World War II, and we are here to support the Chinese people,” shared the chair of the Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute, Adiv Baruch.

The prayer session was reportedly organised by the head of Community Rabbinical Association, rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, along with the Israeli branch of the Orthodox Union. The novel coronavirus, now officially recognised as the Covid-19, has claimed more than 1,700 lives and infected more than 70,000 people around the world
