Sunday at 4:00 PM ET: A grand #Chanukah celebration will be streamed from Brooklyn by Chabad.org, featuring a live concert with singer #EliMarcus and the #Pumpidisa Band.
20 Chabad organizations in Brooklyn, New York, joined together to host a Chanukah drive-in concert for residents of Brooklyn in a Covid safe way, bringing the joy, warmth and meaning of Chanukah to thousands, despite the pandemic.
Brooklyn is a melting pot of Jews of every background and culture, and for so many communities to join together and create a program that will be inspiring to all is truly unprecedented.
At the Motzoei Shabbos of the International Kinus Hashluchim held virtually this year, a group of Shluchim in Brooklyn gathered for an in-person Melava Malka.
The idea was presented that Shluchim rise to the occasion and join together to create a unity event, to overcome the fact the due to the pandemic, all of the regular outreach programs that Chabad’s do on Chanukah were not able to be done this year.
With home visitations, children’s and teen parties, and traditional public menorah lightings not possible, a drive-in event was planned.
As of the time this article is being written, close to 400 vehicles, comprised of over 2000 individuals are registered.
Additionally, hundreds of thousands of viewers will be joining online to celebrate a Chanukah experience like never before. Performers are Eli Marcus and the Pumpedisa band.
