More than 35,000 Hasidic pilgrims celebrated the Jewish New Year of Rosh Hashanah in the Ukrainian city of Uman on Sunday.
First guests from other countries headed to Kiev’s Boryspil International Airport on Wednesday, September 25. This year, Hasidic Jews celebrate Rosh Hashanah from September 29 to October 1.
The city of Uman is a major pilgrimage site for Hasidic Judaism, since it hosts the burial site of the Nachman of Breslov, an important figure in the Hasidic revivalist movement.
