Hundreds of ultra-Orthodox protesters clashed with the police in Bnei Brak, east of Tel Aviv, on Sunday during a rally following a host of crackdowns on unauthorized gatherings at synagogues and educational institutions in Israel.

Protesters decrying the government’s pandemic measures set rubbish bags alight to block roads and set off firecrackers.

At least 15 protesters have been detained and around 13 officers have been reportedly lightly injured during clashes with demonstrators.

The Israeli government extended the current lockdown until the end of the month.
