Scuffles broke out between police and protesters as hundreds took to the streets of New York City’s Midtown Manhattan in support of Palestine on Tuesday amid the escalation of violence in the Middle East.

NYPD could be seen pushing and detaining demonstrators as they marched down 2nd Avenue.

Protesters marched past the UN headquarters waving Palestinian flags as the Israel-Palestine conflict rages on.

The confrontation in the Middle East, which began with protests against planned evictions of Palestinians in East Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood, escalated into an exchange of rockets and airstrikes.

At least 12 people including two children have been killed in Israel, according to reports. In the Gaza Strip, the death toll has surpassed 200, including more than 60 children, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
