A hot jazz retake of My Mother’s Shabbos Candles, a lesser-known classic from the Yiddish Theater era. Yisroel Leshes, the Assistant Chazan at Manhattan’s Lincoln Square Synagogue, is collaborating with musicians from New York’s jazz scene to recreate the music of the Yiddish Theater’s heyday (1900-1945) with fresh, modern interpretations.
Performed live at The Mansion, NYC, in January 2020. The Mansion is a pop-up jazz house featuring Jewish and Israeli artists, with kosher gastronomy. https://themansion.nyc
